Marshall Thundering Herd Steampunk Concept Helmets
Twelve imaginative Marshall football helmet designs forged from Thundering Herd pride, Marshall green, white, antique brass, steam engines and the extraordinary machinery of the Victorian age.
The Thundering Herd Meets the Age of Steam
Imagine Marshall football in an alternate world where the streets of Huntington echo with the sound of steam locomotives, massive brass gears turn beneath glowing lanterns, and the mighty Thundering Herd charges through a landscape of Victorian machinery. These twelve imaginative concept helmets combine Marshall's unmistakable green and white identity with industrial craftsmanship, mechanical buffalo and intricate clockwork.
The Herd opens the collection with a powerful buffalo emblem surrounded by elaborate metalwork and polished gears. Marshall Script features flowing Marshall lettering against a dark green and brass backdrop, while The M celebrates the university's famous block letter in an intricate clockwork setting. Thundering Horns brings a striking mechanical buffalo horn into the design, capturing the strength and momentum of the Herd.
Huntington Strong pays tribute to Marshall's home city with a dramatic architectural scene. Steam Power features an elaborate industrial engine incorporated into the helmet itself, while The Stripes gives Marshall's traditional green and white a bold, mechanical interpretation. Herd Eye introduces a fierce, close-up buffalo gaze framed by antique brass machinery.
The final four helmets celebrate the wider spirit of Marshall football. Almost Heaven blends the university's green identity with a West Virginia-inspired landscape. Herd Tough combines powerful buffalo imagery with heavy industrial detailing, while The Ville honors Huntington with a distinctive steam-age city scene. Victorious finishes the collection with a green, white and black checkerboard design surrounded by intricate brass gears.
Together, these twelve imaginary helmets offer a tribute to the determination, traditions and identity of Marshall football—a world where every turning gear echoes the thunder of the Herd.
