Two Races, One Unusual Name
The Tour de Trump was a multi-stage road cycling competition developed to attract elite international riders and establish a prominent American counterpart to Europe's major cycling events.
Norway's Dag Otto Lauritzen won the inaugural race in 1989. Mexico's RaΓΊl AlcalΓ‘ claimed the second edition in 1990. When Trump withdrew his sponsorship, the event continued as the Tour DuPont from 1991 through 1996.
Our R002 card imagines three tiny fragments inspired by the competition: a weathered race number plate, a torn yellow cycling jersey swatch, and a piece of finish-line banner carrying a gold crest.
